Nevada Pedestrian Crashes
In Nevada, the fatality rate from car crashes is slightly higher than the national average, standing at 10.10 deaths per 100,000 residents compared to the US average of 11.78. In 2022, the state witnessed 396 traffic accident fatalities, marking a grim statistic of 1.35 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled. Throughout the United States, car accidents have become one of the top ten reasons people end up with severe injuries or worse. Actions like distracted driving, intoxicated driving, fatigued driving, and speeding most often contribute to car accidents today, causing over 90% of reported collisions on American roadways.
Across the United States, more than 17,000 car wrecks happen every day, resulting in injuries to around 7,500 individuals and claiming the lives of over 100 people. Annually, about 3 million individuals suffer injuries in car accidents, with approximately 40,000 losing their lives. When we consider that the majority of these accidents are caused by the actions of negligent drivers, we realize that the United States has a serious public health crisis on its hands. Distracted driving is the most common form of negligence on the roadways throughout the country, causing more than 400,000 traffic accidents each year.
For those who sustain injuries in car crashes, the road to recovery often involves overwhelming and expensive medical care. Hospitalization for serious car crash injuries can cost tens of thousands of dollars, a burden that most people find difficult to bear.
