Nevada Car Crashes

Wells, NV - Two Killed in Tractor-Trailer Wreck on US 93 In the United States, tens of thousands of car crashes happen daily. More than 17,000 collisions happen per day across the country. These crashes cause more than 7,500 people to sustain injuries and approximately 100 people to lose their lives per day. Accidents involving semi-trucks are often more dangerous and deadly due to the sheer size and weight of tractor-trailers. On average, semi-trucks are 20 to 30 times heavier than the average-sized passenger vehicle. When a passenger car becomes involved in an accident with a large commercial truck, the people present in the smaller vehicle almost always sustain serious injuries.

Unfortunately, most of these crashes are totally preventable and caused by the actions of negligent drivers. In the past decade, negligent driving has become problematic in the US. According to information provided by the NHTSA, more than 90% of reported auto accidents are caused by driver negligence. At this time, the most common forms of negligent driving in the United States include:

  • Speeding
    Intoxication
  • Distraction

For example, more than 400,000 traffic wrecks occur yearly in the United States that are caused by driver negligence. Also, more than 3,000 people end up dying due to distracted driving crashes. More than 100,000 traffic collisions happen per year caused by fatigued driving, and these wrecks take the lives of approximately 1,500 people annually. Finally, driver intoxication makes up over 30% of the national fatality rate related to car crashes.
