Las Vegas, NV – Walnut Rd Crash at Las Vegas Blvd Takes One Life

Las Vegas, NV (March 22, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident involving a drunk driver claimed one person’s life on Friday morning, March 22. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was called to the scene of the incident at around 3:30 a.m.

LVMPD reports show that 28-year-old Charlie Hernandez was traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard at a high rate of speed while driving a Dodge Challenger. As he proceeded through the intersection of Walnut Road, his vehicle collided with a Hyundai Accent. The force of the collision caused the Hyundai to separate into two pieces. The Challenger overturned. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as a 38-year-old, and a 29-year-old passenger in the Challenger were both injured in the crash. The two victims were transported to University Medical Center Trauma Center, where the driver died from his injuries. Hernandez showed signs of being impaired while at the scene. As a result, he was taken into police custody for DUI and charges related to reckless driving. The police department is investigating the incident.
